Knockhatch Adventure Park recently swapped pirate antics for generosity, handing over £9,560 to Chestnut Tree House. This Sussex children’s hospice provides vital care for youngsters with life-limiting conditions, supporting local families when things get tough.
The total grew over two years through fundraising days and ticket donations. Groups like the Sussex Cosplay Alliance and Vaders Raiders helped out, and it was a proper laugh seeing the kids spot Stormtroopers near the animals. With a portion of ticket sales going to the pot, every visiting family helped reach that £10k goal.
Colin Jaggers, the Managing Director at Knockhatch, mentioned that the team decided to become lifelong supporters after visiting the hospice years ago. It’s clear that seeing the work they do first-hand left a lasting impression.
Sue Harris from Chestnut Tree House was there to pick up the cheque, noting that the funds ensure they can keep looking after children in Sussex today and well into the future.
The money is heading straight into specialist care and practical assistance for parents and children who need it most.
It’s lovely to see a local favourite giving something back to the community. Next time you're chasing the little ones around Blackbeard's, it’s worth thinking about the real-life treasure they've helped gather.
